No trust in Google
Recently, some of us spoke about trust and mistrust in Google Maps and why I no longer use their reviews as a basis for decisions of any kind.
Here’s why:
Today, I got mail from Google. Somebody lodged a complaint against on of my reviews on Maps, accusing me of defamation. Google informed that they were about to restrict access to my contribution, and that I could appeal the decision.
Defamation, you think? That’s quite an accusation, and probably the proprietor of Kronshagen, Germany’s Greek restaurant Nostimo would do good exercising his rights to have my content removed.
Well, this is what I wrote:
“3 Stars: Both goods and service are alright, but nothing special.” 3 stars, which in the past have been tooltipped as “It’s okay”. Or, as I wrote, “alright, but nothing special”. I am not a lawyer, but if that’s what passes for defamation these days, I should maybe banned from speaking in public.
With regards to you, Google: it’s stuff like this that makes me doubt your data, services and integrity and has me using alternatives whereever I find them.
In your current, ads-prioritized state you’re just not worth the trouble.
